Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States. He was born on Oct 1, 1924 in Plains, Georgia. Jimmy was a friendly boy who grew up on a farm and helped his dad grow peanuts and crops. When he grew up he was a submariner in the Navy. He liked being in the Navy, but he quit the job because his father died and somebody had to take care of the farm.
On July 7, 1946 he married a woman named Rosalynn Smith Carter. They had 4 children, I think he had three boys and one girl. On Jan 7, 1974 Carter became Georgia’s 76th governor and then served as president from 1977, to 1981. While he was president he was interested in human rights: he allowed many women, blacks and Hispanics to have governmental jobs. He liked world peace: he asked the countries of Egypt and Israel to come to America and agree to stop fighting against each other. He wanted to protect nature:  he passed a law, the Alaska National Interest Lands, which means he wanted to protect animals.
Jimmy Carter is still alive and still wants to protect the world and make it a better place.
